Country Wood Burning Stoves

Basically, a wood stove will stand in the middle of a room on four legs. It usually has a square shaped middle where the fire burns, and a pipe standing straight up at the top. This pipe is called the chimney. Many newer country wood stoves have a chimney that is made out of metal for greater insulation.

You can keep building up this chimney until it is as tall as you need it to be. The heat can then shoot through this chimney to warm other parts of your home. You could also get masonry chimneys, although these kinds are often less insulated, and sometimes they are too big for the needs of a smaller room.
The bottom of the stove is often comprised of a slab of concrete, and many times there is some kind of covering over this slab: the covering can be made of tiles, or marble, or possibly even slate. The sides of those wood stoves are called the walls, and they often have shields on them, which are special layers that are not combustible to further protect your home from the fire inside the stove. Many times the shield on the wood stove’s rear wall is especially thick to offer even greater protection than the other shields. These stoves can also come equipped with fans and with thermometers so you can make sure the fire is not too hot. (In many instances, the fans and the thermometers are add-on products that will cost you extra.)
Make sure that before you start using your country wood stove you are intimately familiar with all the wood burning stove parts. You need to know what everything does, and how each part should be operating is you are to stay safe. If anything starts to look had worn down or does not seem to be working as well as it should be, get that part replaced right away.
